Strong winds return for league

Strong winds returned at the weekend to test the winter league players. Top of the leaderboard in the singles section for the third week in a row was Ian Smith with an excellent 36 points. He was closely followed by John Findlay and Steve McGhie on 35 points.

John’s score was missed out in last week’s report. He actually won the section with 40 points. This included a hole in one at the short 14th hole using an 8 iron. Terry Middleton, Doug Warrender and Alex Geddes were there to witness the event. It was John’s first hole in one in over 40 years of playing.

In the doubles competition Martin McCoy and Colin Polson had the best nett score with a 58. They beat three couples into second place by 2 strokes. Colin Arthur & Alan Officer and Davy Callaghan & Davy Summers were joint leaders in the scratch section with a 67.
