Three Mearns derbies in amateur football

Games involving Mearns United and Johnshaven Athletic were postponed on Saturday, but most of the local amateur football sides managed to see some action.

In round two of the North of Scotland Cup, Luthermuir and Bervie Caley were tied 2-2 after extra-time and Luthermuir won on penalties.

In round two of the Association Trophy, Cowie Thistle beat Stonehaven rivals Mill Inn 3-2 after extra-time and in the same round of the same competition, Newtonhill lost 4-2 at home to Blackburn.

In the third round of the Aberdeen FC Trophy, St Laurence lost 6-0 at home to big guns Stoneywood Amateurs.

In Division One East, Portlethen strengthened their grip at the top still further with a 3-0 win away to Stonehaven Athletic.

In Division Two North, Cammachmore, who have a host of games in hand, lost 3-1 away to Continental.

Fixtures for Saturday involving the local teams are: North of Scotland Cup R3: Sportsman’s Club v Luthermuir. AFC Trophy R4: Kemnay Youth v Newtonhill.

Association Trophy R2: Mearns United v Stoneywood; R3: Cowie Thistle v Dyce ITC.

Dickie Trophy quarter-final: Bervie v Dee Amateurs.

Castle Rovers quarter-final: Alford v Cammachmore.

Division One East: Old Aberdonians v Mill Inn; Portlethen v Johnshaven; Stonehaven Athletic v Lads Club Amateurs.

Division Two East: St Laurence v West End Electrical.
