Stonehaven and Portlethen libraries will be host to an author later this month as a writer reads extracts from his debut novel.
Andrew Cairns will be visiting Stonehaven and Portlethen libraries on Friday, July 22 at 10am and 11am respectively.
He will read from his first novel The Witch’s List as well as answer questions and sign copies of the book.
It is a free event and is said to be suitable for people aged 16 and over.
Mr Cairns wrote the Witch’s List between 2014 and 2015 - about 15 years after a memorable one-month visit to the Ivory Coast in 1999.
The book is inspired by some of the experiences and stories which he heard on the trip, and also by his experiences of growing up in Scotland and moving to France where he has lived and worked for most of his adult life.
The book is the first in a planned trilogy.
The story revolves around a sceptical character who witnesses things that makes them question their beliefs.
This sets off a chain of events that leads the protagonist to the Ivory Coast where he finds the titular Witch’s List.
