FANS of Scots rock legends Simple Minds attending the forthcoming Stonehaven Hogmanay concert will be able to leave their cars at home.

Bus giant First is laying on special buses from Aberdeen and from as far south as Forfar.

Duncan Cameron, director and general manager of First Aberdeen, said: “Securing a band of the calibre and popularity of Simple Minds is a wonderful coup for Stonehaven and the North-east.

“Given the vast numbers of Simple Minds fans who will want to travel to the town for their performance, I’m pleased to confirm that First Aberdeen will offer coach excursions between 6.30pm and 9pm from Aberdeen City Centre on December 31.

“We will also run coaches from the south to Stonehaven, one starting at Forfar (7.30pm) and picking up at Montrose (8pm) and Inverbervie (8.20pm) and another coach starting at Brechin (7.45pm) and picking up at Laurencekirk (8pm). All coaches will all return at 1am following the event.”

Return fares will be £25 per person from Forfar, Brechin and Montrose and £20 from Laurencekirk, Inverbervie and Aberdeen. All seats must be pre-booked direct with First Bus.

Organisers stressed no one will be allowed into the Market Square event without a pre-paid ticket and urged people not to turn up without one. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and anyone buying alcohol from the bar who looks under 25 must provide valid ID.
