An English folk duo are set to take their dulcet tones to Stonehaven next month as part of their first tour in Scotland.
Dorset-based Ninebarrow will be visiting Stonehaven Community Centre as part of the tour on Friday, August 19.
The Stonehaven Folk Club meet at the Community Centre every Friday at 8:30pm.
The group consists of Jon Whitley and Jay LaBouchardiere.
Jon and Jay combine their vocal harmonies and melodies to deliver songs that are inspired and rooted in the landscape, history and folklore of the British Isles.
They have been tipped to ‘become a major force in English folk music’ by Shire Folk Magazine.
They released their debut album ‘While the Blackthorn Burns’ in 2014 and followed it up with ‘Releasing the Leaves’ this March.
They garnered national attention when The Telegraph awarded their sophomore album four stars and ranked it as one of the ‘top folk albums of 2016’. This followed the paper’s similar glowing praise of the debut album.
The album was mastered by Mark Tucker, whose credits include Show of Hands and Fairport Convention.
Folk singer Kate Rusby described the duo as ‘absolutely amazing’ when they supported her at Sidmouth Folk Week in 2015.
